MOBILITY
Bogota promotes the Sustainable Mobility:
- The city fosters the use of bicycles with more than 550 km of bike lanes for locals and tourists alike.
- In addition, some spaces help cyclists to leave their bicycles in safe places called 'Cicloparqueaderos' or bike racks which are connected to the TransMilenio system.
Public Transport System:
- Opened in 2000, Transmilenio is part of the Bogotá Mass Transit System. With a high-level infrastructure, it has 9 main portals, 1,114 km of exclusive lanes for articulated buses, 11 trunk lines in operation and 139 stations.
- TransMilenio offers two types of buses with a capacity of 150 and 250 passengers each. You may access the service using rechargeable cards that are purchased at the stations.
- It is also complemented by a cable car type system and an aerial cable transport subtype called Transmicable.
Cabs:
- In Colombia, cabs are yellow cars.
- Request the service by calling or using applications to some companies such as Taxis Libres, Chitaraque, Tax express; Easy Taxi, or Cabify, among others.
- The standard fare is according to the units shown on the taximeter or marked by the application.
- El Dorado International Airport offers a convenient taxi service. The two authorized cab companies are El Dorado Taxis and Radio Taxi Aeropuerto. You can easily find them after passing through the international arrivals exit (outside) yellow cars.
