One of the most popular dishes in the capital is the seafood stew, a typical dish of the Colombian coast, whose origin is said by some to be Spanish and by others to be Caribbean.

In our country this soup is called cazuela, due to the container where it is cooked and served (generally it is a dish made of clay or other materials).

In each region of the country there is a particular way to give a different flavor to the seafood stew and in Bogota each restaurant has unique preparations of this traditional dish.

It can include ingredients such as lobster, prawns, shrimp, fish, clams, squid, octopus, peas, coconut milk or bechamel sauce and optionally: cream, white wine, or brandy served au gratin with Parmesan cheese (it is normal that the stew arrives at the table bubbling, as it is still cooking).

Among several gastronomic places in the city, I propose a selection where eating seafood stew is a tradition:

Located at Calle 24 # 9-41 in Santa Fe locality: La Cazuela de la 24 and Brisas del Caribe are places that preserve the flavor and tradition of seafood in Bogota.

To the west and on Avenida 28 # 19-44 (Teusaquillo locality) with more than 35 years of service, is the restaurant Las Cazuelas de la 28.

Towards the Zona Industrial of Puente Aranda, on Avenida de las Américas # 43A-44, is the Darius restaurant, with more than 40 years of history, the place offers this magnificent dish.

In the Kennedy locality (Carvajal sector), La Poche stands out as one of the classic and emblematic seafood restaurants in the capital.

We invite you to live the experience of tasting an exquisite seafood stew, because Bogota has countless restaurants that offer it. Therefore, this brief selection is just a sample of the many options you can find in the capital to enjoy this impeccable dish.

Treat yourself in Bogota!
