La Candelaria was founded in 1966 by a group of independent artists and intellectuals, originally from the National University of Colombia and the incipient experimental theater. His conscious objective was to contribute to the creation of the independent theater movement.

The Jorge Eliécer Gaitán Theater, inaugurated in 1940 as Teatro Colombia and renamed in 1973 in memory of the former mayor, is a prominent cultural venue in Bogotá. With capacity for 1,695 spectators, located in the heart of the capital, it has established itself as a meeting point for culture and entertainment, being key in the national and international art scene.

The La Media Torta Open Air Theater celebrates its 86th anniversary. Since its inauguration in 1938 as a contemporary amphitheater donated by the British Council, it has witnessed the growth of Bogotá as a city welcoming to all, both locals and foreigners. Conceived in 1936 by Jorge Eliécer Gaitán as an entertainment space for the first peasants and migrants who arrived in the capital, La Media Torta has been an integral part of the cultural life of the city.

The Teatro Colón, a cultural icon of Colombia, joins the National Center for the Arts with three new rooms. Built between 1885 and 1895 by Pietro Cantini, it stands out for its neoclassical architecture and distinctive style. In 1975 it was declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation. The main room has 773 chairs distributed on four levels: stalls, first, second and third level boxes, and gallery. Its features include a fresco of the muses on the ceiling, the Ramelli lamp and a curtain painted by Annibale Gatti in 1890.

In the south of Bogotá, exactly in the town of Ciudad Bolívar, artistic manifestations, creativity and memory have a place in the Teatro El Ensueño.

Inaugurated in April 2021, the theater has managed to become a symbol of the town, on par with the House of Culture, El Transmicable and El Mirador Illimani. In addition, it has been articulated with cultural spaces in neighboring towns such as Tunjuelito, Bosa and Usme, with the interest of promoting the artistic and cultural exchange of the communities.

The Mayor Theater It has capacity for 1,303 spectators and was designed to offer an excellent experience in various shows such as opera, musicals, concerts, ballet, dance and theater. With three levels and a careful distribution of space, it guarantees an optimal view and sound reception from any location, even from the last row 28 meters from the stage. In addition, it has five dressing rooms and changing rooms, as well as a special room for artists to prepare comfortably before each presentation, thus showing concern for both the public and the artists.

The Faenza Theater, symbol of the recovery of Bogotá's architectural heritage, is considered an asset of national cultural interest. It is the oldest film screening theater in the city, with the film "L'ironie du destin" by Dimitri Kirsanoff. It stands out for preserving samples of grotesque painting, being the only non-religious construction in Colombia with this style. In addition, its decoration includes relief works, moldings and plaster foliage, while its lamps are authentic pieces of art made by hand with various artisanal techniques.
