Bogotá Cinematheque
Near the Parque de los Periodistas is the Bogotá Cinematheque, an important meeting point for young Colombian creators. This complex includes several projection rooms, an audiovisual research center, a media library and an exhibition gallery. It is advisable to keep an eye on their billboards, as they usually offer excellent film series.
Samper Mendoza Market Place
Its history begins in 1935, originally 4 internal granaries and a materials warehouse were located there and it was known as the Plaza del Nordeste, a peasant market that arrived on trains from the municipalities of Sogamoso (Boyacá) and Barbosa (Santander). In 1956 it functioned as an urban transportation parking lot and finally became one of the most traditional herb markets in Colombia.
In October 2013, more than 60 peasant and indigenous families from Coyaima (Tolima) joined the plaza, selling tamale leaves in the lane located behind the Plaza de Paloquemao.

St. Francis Church
It is the oldest church in Bogota. It all began with the arrival of the fathers of the Franciscan Order to the New Kingdom of Granada in 1550. The first site was located on Carrera Séptima under the name of Parroquia de las Nieves; later, it was moved to the site now occupied by the church of San Agustín. Finally, in 1557, the temple was moved to its current location, to the houses donated by Archbishop Fray Juan de los Barrios. With faith and effort they were able to build the convent that comprised two blocks.
Luis Angel Arango Library
If you are touring the heart of Bogota, in La Candelaria locality, you can't miss this place where several generations of Colombian readers, researchers, and intellectuals have been educated. The Luis Angel Arango Library, the most extensive public library in the country, with a collection of 2 million copies, is also an important cultural center with an art exhibition hall and concert hall, which received the National Architecture Award in 1966 and was declared an Asset of National Cultural Interest in 2010.
