National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia and National Choir of Colombia: Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi - Conductor: Gábor Hollerung, Hungary

The National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia and the National Choir of Colombia, under the direction of Hungarian conductor Gábor Hollerung—winner of the Liszt Ferenc Choir Conducting Competition—will perform one of the most significant non-operatic works by the renowned Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi: the 'Requiem Mass.' This piece premiered in 1874 in honor of Alessandro Manzoni, a writer and poet who, like Verdi, was a symbol of nationalism and unity for his country. The soloists for the performance will include Colombian soprano Betty Garcés, Turkish mezzo-soprano Asude Karayavuz, Uruguayan tenor Santiago Vidal, and Argentine bass Hernán Iturralde..

How to get there?

• Private vehicle: If you are traveling from the south to the north on Autopista Norte or Carrera Septima, take a right onto Calle 169 and then head west on Avenida Boyacá. If you are coming from the north to the south, turn west onto Calle 170 until you reach the Cultural Center. If you are traveling from the south to the north on Avenida Boyacá, you can reach Calle 170 and then make a right turn. The theater will be two blocks ahead.
• TransMilenio: Take any Line B route to Portal Norte, then take feeder bus 2-7 San José and get off at the seventh stop.
