What was previously a mining exploitation area north of Bogotá, today has been completely transformed into a quiet area of reforestation and ecological restoration, it is the Soratama Environmental Classroom where important stabilization processes are carried out that have allowed the work to be left behind quarry, to become a green alternative for the enjoyment of citizens and visitors of Bogotá.
The Soratama Environmental Classroom is part of the Bosque Oriental Protective Forest Reserve of Bogotá, a space full of nature and a large ecological corridor that has exceptional potential for bird watching such as the Gralaria Ruficapila (Synalaxis subpudica) and various types of hummingbirds
This quiet place has different trails from which you can get beautiful postcards of the Bogotá landscape. In addition to the viewpoints, you will observe interesting geological formations, different types of existing soil and multiple aquifers that remain there underground. One of the most striking places in the classroom is the “weeping stone”, a charming spring that will fascinate you.
All tours are guided and you have the option to participate in workshops and activities focused on education and, of course, environmental awareness.
