Everyday life in Bogotá invites you to experience scenarios such as shopping centers, since their design and proximity have contributed to the development of quality of life, offering innovative experiences and generating well-being in the city.
On April 28, 1976, Unicentro was inaugurated in Bogotá, a commercial project built by the Pedro Gómez firm, located in the Usaquén sector, on a 126,000 m2 lot that years ago served as an extension of land for the cultivation of barley.
With Unicentro, the concept of urban development that integrated housing, commerce, recreation, work and services in large cities arrived in Bogotá and the country. A new style was then introduced for commercial activity in Bogotá, with Unicentro being the model to continue developing similar buildings.
Unicentro was, at the time, the largest shopping center of the time and the only one that for the first time united the best merchants in Bogotá under one roof; Furthermore, it was the first commercial scenario that applied the comprehensive urban development system in the capital and practically the pioneer of shopping centers, since there was no reference with similar characteristics.
For four decades Unicentro has marked a milestone in the modernization of shopping centers and, therefore, commerce in Bogotá. Since its inauguration, Unicentro has become a setting to meet with family, friends, partners, make work appointments, shop, have fun, enjoy entertainment and enjoy incredible restaurants. Its sonorous slogan “See you at Unicentro” has been characteristic for three generations.
