In the Colombian capital, there is a variety of tourist plans for all interests and ages, such as the trails of the Eastern Hills, the different nightlife offerings, adventure attractions, gastronomy, and museums, among others.
However, other places in Bogota offer unique experiences. Such is the case of Ciudad Bolívar, a locality that has consolidated as a tourist destination due to its urban and rural offerings.

TransMiCable, a transportation system that changed a whole community

One of the most prominent aspects that drives the popularity of Ciudad Bolívar is its innovative transportation system: the TransMiCable.
This modern cable car connects different points of the locality, mobilizing more than 7,000 people every hour through 163 cabins, from where you can appreciate the imposingness of Bogotá through the landscapes of the city.

The Color Street in Bogotá Colors: a Ciudad Bolivar success story for the world.

Another hallmark attraction that has contributed to Ciudad Bolivar's tourism flourishing is the famous "Color Street"; of Bogotá Colors. The El Paraíso neighborhood's walls have been transformed into a vibrant canvas that celebrates creativity and artistic expression. Colorful murals and graffiti adorn the facades of the houses, creating a festive and welcoming atmosphere.
In 2015, the idea was born by Michael Rojas (May) and Luisa Sabogal, a couple of artists who were looking to redefine their neighborhood and change the appearance of the locality. That is how the travel agency and collective Bogotá Colors was born, which today already has more than 40 murals, amounting to
more than 900 m2 intervened with urban art.
Each mural tells a story, such as the one of Luis Ramírez, an inhabitant of the rural area of Ciudad Bolívar and founder of Asoproam. This association carries out the Tunjuelo agrotourism route by promoting rural, wellness, and nature tourism. Luis is an example of perseverance and self-improvement in consolidating his tourism project and generating employment in his community.

Local gastronomy, taken to another level with colorful empanadas

Gastronomy also plays a crucial role in Ciudad Bolivar's tourism offerings. La Galería del Sabor has become renowned for its colorful empanadas, a delicious fusion of culinary tradition and visual creativity.
These empanadas delight the palate and are also a tribute to the cultural diversity of the locality.
"Each coloring is made naturally, with foods that produce color, such as the beet" explains Martha Bernal, creator of this culinary innovation.

TT4: The Museum of the Self-Built City, a bastion of the Ciudad Bolivar's roots In Ciudad Bolívar, you will also find the Museum of the Self-built City (Museo de la Ciudad Autoconstruída). This space illustrates the essence of the communities that have contributed to forging the locality, highlighting creativity and resilience.
In the five levels of the museum, you will find the famous sculpture of the Palo del Ahorcado, a symbol of internal migration and the processes of self-building in the surrounding neighborhoods, already declared an asset of cultural interest.
Visitors can also find different artistic expressions of the Afro community and LGBTI collectives, among others.

The promotion of tourism in Ciudad Bolivar not only benefits visitors but also supports the economic and social development of the locality. The tourist offering and the promotion of local culture have turned this area into a treasure to discover in Bogotá, attracting the attention of more people every day.
