The Graffiti District is situated in the industrial zone of Bogotá, specifically at Avenida Américas and Carrera 53a in the Puente Aranda locality. This initiative, which promotes the responsible practice of urban art and graffiti, aims to brighten different areas of the city. The strategy focuses on reclaiming public spaces and encouraging active, co-responsible, and participatory citizenship. Once defined by cold warehouse walls, this district is now adorned with vibrant murals of animals and human faces, each telling a story, transforming it into the largest open-air urban art gallery in concrete in Latin America.
In the graffiti zone of Puente Aranda, nearly 1,500 square meters—equivalent to 24 walls—showcase the works of 25 national and international artists, including Ledania, Sabotaje al Montaje, Pez, Farid Rueda, and the collective A Tres Manos (composed of Deimos, Ceroker, and Mugre Diamante). Their incredible talent demonstrates how art can transform public spaces, turning rough brick walls into beautiful canvases filled with imagination.
This initiative has expanded to various localities within the city, resulting in over 300 interventions between 2016 and 2020. It has created corridors and cultural routes connecting parks, district schools, marketplaces, and other public spaces. Due to this initiative, Bogotá Graffiti District was recognized in 2017 by the Canadian blog “Bombing Science” as one of the seven most important cities for graffiti globally..
