The Vicachá Trail is part of the Reserva Forestal Protectora Bosque Oriental de Bogotá. It is located on the banks of the San Francisco River, a name given by the Spanish community, or Vicachá —a Muisca word meaning the glow of the moon or where the moon is reflected.
The San Francisco - Vicachá Road is located within the lands of Molino del Boquerón, Molino Inglés, and Cerezos, properties owned by the Aqueduct of Bogotá (the localities of Santa Fe and La Candelaria share these lands). It was precisely in this area that the beginnings of the city's foundation were recorded in pre-Hispanic times and, later, during the colonial period, some of the first neighborhoods in the territory emerged.
