Take a break in the nature of the capital city

Bogotá shelters a rich natural diversity within its boundaries. The Colombian capital is surrounded by breathtaking hills and mountains that make up an ecosystem of paramos, rainforests, and wetlands of high environmental value. Not only do these green lungs embellish the capital's landscape, but they also play a fundamental role in regulating the climate and supplying water to the more than 8 million inhabitants of the city.

  1. Córdoba Wetland: A natural lung amidst the city

One of the Bogotá natural oasis is the District Ecological Park Cordoba Wetland, where biodiversity preservation is prioritized since it is one of the district’s protected areas.

With over 40 hectares, this ecological structure has more than 210 species of land plants, 14 aquatic species, and five floating species. You will also appreciate some species of the local fauna, such as the savannah frog, the cream-backed poison frog, and the thickhead ground snake.

How to get there?

TransMilenio: You can look for a route to Avenida Suba and Calle 116 station and walk 350 meters towards Carrera 55. There, you will find the entrance to the park.

If you take the SITP, pick any route that leaves you at the Avenida Suba and Calle 115 stop. After getting off, walk 400 meters along the Suba Highway until you reach Calle 116, where you'll find the entrance to the park.

Private car or cab: Drive along Avenida Suba northbound to Calle 116. There, you will find the turn-off and arrive at the entrance to the park

How to access the tour?

If you want to take the tour, you can enter for free and without prior registration to enjoy not only the scenery and hiking but also bird watching. However, if you want a guided tour, Puebliando Por Colombia SAS BIC offers it to you.

  1. Entrenubes: The nature from the “sky”

One of the must-see nature sites in the capital is the Entrenubes Mountain District Ecological Park, a space of 626 hectares that covers the Rafael Uribe, San Cristóbal, and Usme localities, and where you will find mosses, grasses, ferns, orchids, shrubs, and trees that shelter native fauna species.

This park is one of the most important for the city's water resources; it is home to seven streams that flow into the Tunjuelo River, one of the three main tributaries of the Bogotá River.

How to get there?

We recommend that you arrive by TransMilenio. Take an articulated bus to the 20 de Julio Station; however, there are several stops to make. So, for convenience, we suggest you take a cab so you can get there faster.

How to access the tour?

There are no entrance fees to Entrenubes Park. However, if you would like to take a guided tour, tour operators such as ParaMoverte offer different packages to enjoy the experience.

  1. Monserrate: The Hill that guarded the Bogotá citizen

Without a doubt, Monserrate Hill is a symbol of Bogotá and one of the must-visit sites. It is one of the most important points that offer you the opportunity to live an outdoor experience. It has a pedestrian path up to the sanctuary and neighboring routes (set up by the Aqueduct of Bogota) to connect you closer to nature, such as “Kilómetro 11”, “Doce Quebradas” or “San Francisco Vicachá.”

Although the entrance and descent by the path to the Monserrate Hill Church are free, there are other alternatives, such as the Funicular and the Cable Car. Here, you will find everything related to direct fares and schedules.

How to get there?

TransMilenio: Find the route that leaves you at the Universidades Station and then walk 800 meters along Calle 22 until Carrera Primera, where you will find the entrance to Monserrate.

SITP: Take the closest route to your location that leaves you at the AC 20 Cra 1 Stop. Once you arrive at your destination, cross Circunvalar Avenue, and you will find the entrance.

Private car or cab: Go towards Bogotá's downtown until you reach Circunvalar Avenue. Immediately after Calle 22 (in the north-south direction), you will find the entrance.

How to access the tour?

Although admission is free, tour operators such as Conecta Tu Viaje, Puebliando Por Colombia SAS BIC, or The True Colombian Experience offer guided tours not only on the trail but also at the summit, as well as food and souvenir shopping suggestions.

Join us and connect your senses with this magical experience offered by the impressive mountains of the capital and the environmental jewels of Bogotá.
